My
passion for nature was inspired by my early west coast
beginnings, and nurtured through many years of hiking Alberta's
prairie landscapes, foothills and Rocky Mountains.
In
1998, I was introduced to Eastend Saskatchewan through
the writings of American historian and novelist, Wallace Stegner and Canadian novelist Sharon Butala. This quiet part of the world
continues to draw me, again and again, back to it's sweeping vistas and valleys veiled in mystery.
The
start
of every
painting finds me deeply engaged with the natural
surroundings. I develop detailed graphite drawings with
accompanying watercolor sketches and notes, which evolve
into finished works primarily acrylic on canvas. |
